The Municipal Veterinary Department of the Kotte Municipal Council in collaboration with the JUSTICE FOR ANIMALS Animal Welfare Institute conducted a series of programs to sterilize stray dogs and domestic dogs, prevent the spread of Rabies and vaccination against Rabies.

Under this series of programs on November 1^st, 2021 at the Obeysekarapura Public Hall, November 2^nd at the Kotte Municipal Council premises, November 3^rd at the Bandaranayakepura Community Hall and November 4^th at the Beddagana Library. It was also held on November 5^th at the Divisional Office, Chapel Mawatha, Nugegoda.

The duties of the Kotte Municipal Council commenced on 19^th April 2021 following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The Hon. Mayor Mr. I. M. V. Premalal met the staff of the Municipal Council and conveyed his greetings to them on the same day. The event was held at the Mayor's Office. Municipal Commissioner Mr. P. L. M. Chathuranga, Heads of Departments and Officers of the Municipal Council were present.

The Kotte Municipal Council has taken steps to provide breakfast to the people in the Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte area who were affected by the floods due to heavy rain recently. The relief items were distributed to the members in charge of each division to be distributed to the affected people.

A special discussion was held at the Kotte Municipal Council on 08^th of April 2021 regarding traffic congestion reduction, urban beautification and the environmental issues affecting the city of Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, the administrative capital of Sri Lanka.

Colombo District Minister of Parliament Attorney-at-Law Madura Vithanage, Hon. Mayor of Kotte, Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Kotte Divisional Secretary Mr. Kasun Epa Seneviratne, Municipal Commissioner of Kotte Mr. P. L. M. Chathuranga, Chief Medical Officer of Kotte Dr. Manoj Rodrigo, Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Mr. Deshabandu Tennakoon and others were present.
