A children's playground constructed by the Kotte Municipal Council was declared open on 02^nd February 2022 at Nanayakkara Mawatha, Obeysekarapura, Rajagiriya. This is a result of a proposal made by Municipal Councilor Prabhad Thushara.

Hon. Colombo District Minister of Parliament Attorney-at-Law Madura Vithanage, Hon. Mayor of Kotte Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Hon. Municipal Councilor Prabhad Thushara and other Municipal Councilors, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Shalika S. Ranaweera, Assistant Municipal Engineer Mr. Ajith Hettiarachchi and others joined the occassion.

A planting project was held on 27th January 2022 in the area on both sides of the Heen Ela in Rajagiriya. This is being done jointly by the Kotte Municipal Council and the Kotte Divisional Secretariat with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Environment.

Under this program called 'Husma Dena Thuru', 1500 plants suitable for aquatic wetlands such as Rukattana, Diyamidella, Godapara and Galkarada will be planted at the national level.

The inaugural ceremony of the automation of the Rajagiriya Central Library was held on 27th January 2022 at the Kotte Municipal Council as a step towards adapting the public library system to modern technology.

Hon. Colombo District Minister of Parliament Attorney-at-Law Madhura Withanage, Hon. Mayor of Kotte Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Hon. Deputy Mayor Mr. Premalal Athukorala, Hon. Councillors, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Shalika S. Ranaweera, Municipal Secretary Mrs. D.P.H. Samarawickrame, Assistant Engineer Mr. Ajith Hettiarachchi, Chief Librarian of the Kotte Public Libraries Mr. Sujeewa Fernando, Staff of the Kotte Central Library, Former Librarians, Librarian of the Colombo Public Library Mrs. Waruni Gangabadarachchi, Technical Officer of Ruhunu Solution Mr. N. Waidyasuriya were presented at the occassion.

The new computerized library membership cards were symbolically presented to several library members.

A reading camp and a membership promotion program organized by the Kotte Central Library was held on 13^th January 2022 at the Hewavitharana College Primary School, Rajagiriya.

Kotte Chief Librarian Mr. Sujeewa Fernando delivered a keynote address for the students on the value of reading.

Hon. Municipal Councilors of Kotte Denzil Padmasiri and Lalith Amarasinghe, the Municipal Secretary Mrs. D.P.H. Samarawickrema and the staff of the Central Library were also present on the occasion.
