The program to donate school exercise books to children in Kotte area was commenced in line with the supreme concept of former Mayor of Kotte, Attorney-at-Law Chandra Silva in order to add real value to the taxes paid by the public.

The inaugural ceremony of the 'Nenasara Athwela 2021' was held on 28th March 2021 at the Rajagiriya, Obeysekarapura Divisional Office under the patronage of Colombo District Hon. Minister of Parliament Attorney-at-Law Madura Vithanage.

Hon. Madura Vithanage, Attorney-at-Law, Hon. Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Hon. Municipal Councilor Mr. Prabhad Thushara and Municipal Commissioner Mr. P. L. M. Chathuranga addressed the gathering after commencing the ceremony with the blessings of venerable Maha Sangha. Afterwards, school exercise books were symbolically distributed to the children.

Officials of the Municipal Council as well as senior journalist Mr. Sudharman Radaliyagoda and Obeysekarapura, Arunodaya Mawatha Divisional Leader Mr. Anura Jayasekara were also present at the occasion.

The long dilapidated Rajagiriya, Bandaranayakepura Medical Clinic which was founded over 20 years ago by the former Hon. Mayor of Kotte, Attorney-at-Law Chandra Silva, was completely reconstructed by the Kotte Municipal Council under the 'Sapiri Gamak' program and opened to the public on February 27th, 2021.

Hon. Minister of Parliament (Colombo District) Attorney-at-Law Madhura Vithanage, Kotte Divisional Secretary Mr. Kasun Epa Senevirathne, Nugegoda Chief Medical Officer of Health Mrs. Chandani Denagama, Hon. Mayor of Kotte Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Hon. Council Members, Municipal Commissioner of Kotte Mr. P. L. M. Chathuranga, Chief Medical Officer of Kotte Municipal Council Mr. Manoj Rodrigo with other officials of the Kotte Municipal Council were present at the occasion.

The reconstruction work of this Medical Clinic was done at the request of the Hon. Councilor Member in-charge of the Bandaranayakapura Division Mr. Dhammika Chandrakantha.

As per His Excellency the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's Policy Statement on Vision of Prosperity, the 'Deyata Eliya' Program to provide free electricity to low income Samurdhi Home Owners without power was commenced for the Samurdhi beneficiaries in Kotte area on 20th March 2021 at the premises of Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council.

The connecting point to the by canal of Arunodaya Mawatha, Obeysekarapura, Rajagiriya has been blocked and dilapidated since a long time. The water flowing through the canal overflows and the surrounding houses are flooded due to this.

With the intention of rescuing the people from this disaster a bridge is to be constructed widening this canal near Sri Subodhi Viharaya on Arunodaya Mawatha. The bridge is being constructed by the Kotte Municipal Council with the assistance of the 'Heart Touching Village Bridge' project and the technical advice of the Sri Lanka Public Engineering Front.

Hon. Minister of Parliament (Colombo District), Mr. Madhura Vithanage (Attorney-at-Law), Hon. Mayor Mr. I. M. V. Premalal and the Council Members in charge of the Division laid the foundation stone for this bridge on 14th March 2021. Other Municipal Councilors were also present on the occasion.
